John Salyers plans to contact the Episcopal Church for a ceili. Bill Knight called the Knight’s of Columbus, but the rate was $600.00 a day. Any ideas for the ceili or whiskey tasting are welcome. Please contact Bill Bom or Sarah Same. The concert will be at the ball fields at 7 following the festival. Tickets $15.00. Discussed ID bracelets or stamps for concert admission. The committee decided to decline the group Fiddlers Three as they were unavailable for the evening concert. Food venders will stay open during the concert. Aliyah was able to order T-shirts (with celtic knot on front) for $533.00 to be sold at the festival. Aliyah also announced that if anyone wants to set up a clan tent, to see her for forms. Sarah presented a draft of posters as advertisement. Committee requested pricing on two different sizes. Bill Bom will be meeting with TV stations next week. Rapid Results radio station will give free PSA’s. Robert will be advertising at the base. Rapid City Journal will also be utilized. Flyers will be designed and run off home computers to reduce cost. Plans discussed on distribution methods. John Salyers proposed his daughter Bethany’s idea: to let children run the kid’s station. Children will be taught celtic dancing, wee highland games, and kilt wraps. Piper and drum judges are still needed. Volunteers of all kinds to help with anything from program stapling to festival sales are very much needed. The society stated that volunteers do not need to be a SIS member. Since the possible closing of Ellsworth, sponsor donations have rapidly dwindled. Gary Hamilton is working on location for Kirk’n of the tartan. New Business Karen Stone resigned as secretary. but will stay active in SIS and volunteer work. Sally Knight was appointed as new secretary. Bob Goldey resigned as treasurer due to health problems. Carol Conrad accepted appointment of treasurer. A prayer was said for Bob and SIS will send a card to him and his family. Gary Hamilton reported that 2,100 to 2,900 is in treasury account versus 1,800 as previously believed. Gary will confirm at next meeting. Gary Hamilton will be sending a letter to former president, Charlie Wier to refer any SIS business to new president, Bill Bom. The post office box keys have also been changed. Carol Conrad, Bill Bom, and Gary Hamilton will be in charge of the keys. This concludes meeting business and meeting was adjourned. Respectfully Submitted Sally Knight The meeting was called to order by Bill Bom, with members Bill Knight, John Salyers, Carole Conrad, Gary Hamilton and Aliyah Sanders present. Bill Bom gave a report on progress with the festival plans. Carole Conrad reported that the Dahl has been reserved for the concert on Sat. Sept. 3, but only seats 150 people. A discussion was held regarding other sites available. The School of Mines has space for 500 people, and the cost is $500.00. Another suggestion was to hold the Ceiligh at the festival site outside if we can acquire two tents from Pepsi. Gary Hamilton will check on the availability of tents from Pepsi. Bill Bom will contact the Ramkota on the availability of a large room for the Concert or Ceiligh so that their liquor license will cover the whiskey tasting event. Aliyah gave a report on tee shirts, and submitted a proposed design. After a discussion it was decided to accept the design and to order 108 shirts in assorted men’s sizes and 36 in ladies sizes, for a total cost of $822.00. Members may order tee shirts, tank tops and sweatshirts in advance, or after the event at the same price. John Salyers suggested that we could use the Episcopalian church for the Ceiligh and also have a member’s only potluck before it is open to the public. No decision was reached. Carole and Bill Knight reported on the meeting with Karen Stone regarding the posters and pamphlet design. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
