S.O.S.  ……

Members Needed !!!

The first quarter of this new year has

been very successful for SIS, with the

Hogmany, Burns dinner, St Patrick's Day and soon on June 16th the Mid Summer's Eve celebration. My concern is our general business meetings and the low membership attendance. While I will be the first to admit that we are all very busy with our work and families, as members of SIS we also committed to some time and dedication to the Celtic culture within our community. A friend and fellow member of SIS casually mentioned that it seems to be the same people doing everything the vast majority of the time, and this person likened it to the "Magnificent 7". Though I chuckled at this analogy, I knew this was an accurate statement. It goes back to the old saying in any organization similar to ours '20% of the people do 80% of the work". In the last 6 months or so our general business meetings have ranged from 5 to 14 members in attendance and every number in between. I would better understand this if we were not having fun and being very successful at putting on our dinners, parades and festivities. My question to those less frequent members is why or what can we do? , or what do you want to see or do as members to entice you to attend our meetings? Those of us who are frequent fliers, part of the "Magnificent 7" or usual participants are having a wonderful time with our SIS activities, does it take time? hard work and dedication? Absolutely, but we know we are enjoying ourselves getting the word out in the community about our fine Celtic culture.

So to those members whom we do not see as often as we'd like, I encourage you to rearrange your busy schedules to make a date with your SIS to have some great Celtic fun and frolic. As I previously mentioned we have some fantastic fun events coming up this early summer from a rummage sale fund raiser to a night of Mid Summer's Eve frolic.

See you there!!

Labor Day Festival Planning is UNDERWAY

As we plan for our annual festival, we need to know about any possible funding sources that can help us continue to offer this event AT-NO-CHARGE.  Please contact Bill Knight or Gary Hamilton (info@BlackHillsCelticEvents.org )if you have any ideas (they are our S.I.S. representatives on the Festival Board).  We also want to expand our vendor list if you have any thoughts regarding vendors, please don’t keep them to yourselves!  J
